FAQ
Can I limit the GT33’s top speed for a younger rider?
Yes. The GT33 can be configured with a maximum speed limit of approximately 25 km/h (15.5 mph), subject to the controller and display version installed on the bike. This gives parents or guardians greater control over the available riding speed.
To confirm compatibility or request assistance with the speed-limit setting, please contact the Riding’times support team before or after purchase.
A speed limit does not replace adult supervision, appropriate protective equipment or compliance with local age and e-bike regulations. Actual speed may vary with rider weight, cargo, terrain, battery level and riding conditions.
Is a mid-drive or hub motor better for an electric dirt bike?
Neither motor design is automatically better for every electric dirt bike rider.
A mid-drive motor sends power through the bicycle chain and drivetrain, allowing the motor to use the bike’s selectable gears. A hub motor delivers motor power at the wheel without routing that force through the bicycle chain.
For riders who want direct rear-wheel power, fewer motor-related loads on the chain and dependable performance across city streets, gravel roads and packed dirt trails, the GT33’s integrated geared rear hub is a practical choice. Riders who specifically want the motor to work through a traditional bicycle drivetrain may prefer a mid-drive system.

What makes the GT33 motor different?
The GT33 all-terrain cargo electric bike uses a 1350W peak integrated geared rear hub motor.
Its internal reduction mechanism converts the motor’s rotational speed into usable rear-wheel driving force, supporting responsive starts, cargo-carrying performance and mixed-surface riding.
Because the motor and reduction mechanism are housed inside the rear hub, motor power reaches the rear wheel without passing through the bicycle chain. This arrangement works well for riders who need a practical cargo e-bike that can also handle gravel, packed dirt and uneven roads.
Is the GT33 a mid-drive electric bike?
No. The GT33 is not a mid-drive electric bike.
A mid-drive motor is normally installed near the crank and transfers motor power through the bicycle chain and rear drivetrain. The GT33 places its motor and internal reduction mechanism inside the rear wheel hub.
The chain remains available for normal pedalling, but it does not carry the motor’s driving force. The GT33 therefore combines pedal functionality with a separate geared rear-hub motor system.
What does the GT33’s integrated geared hub design mean?
An integrated geared hub contains both the electric motor and an internal reduction mechanism inside the rear wheel hub.
The internal gears reduce the motor’s rotational speed before power reaches the wheel. This helps translate motor output into responsive rear-wheel force for starts, cargo loads, inclines and mixed city-and-dirt riding.
The GT33 does not use a rider-selectable motor transmission, and no specific numerical internal reduction ratio is currently published for this model. Learn more in our integrated geared hub motor guide.
Does the GT33 motor send power through the bicycle chain?
No. The GT33 motor delivers power through the internal gearing inside the rear hub and directly to the rear wheel.
The bicycle chain is still used when the rider pedals, but it does not transmit the motor’s driving force. This separates motor propulsion from the pedal drivetrain and prevents the 1350W peak motor output from being routed through the bicycle chain.
Why can two 1350W electric bike motors feel different?
Peak wattage alone does not determine how an electric dirt bike or all-terrain e-bike feels. Two 1350W motors can deliver noticeably different acceleration and climbing response because of differences in:
- Internal motor reduction
- Controller programming and current delivery
- Battery voltage and charge level
- Motor efficiency
- Wheel and tire size
- Bike, rider and cargo weight
- Dirt, gravel or pavement conditions
- Available rear-wheel traction
The GT33 combines a 1350W peak integrated geared rear hub motor with a 48V battery system, fat tires and a cargo-oriented chassis. Its real-world response is determined by the complete bike, load and riding surface—not the wattage number alone.
Is the GT33 an electric dirt bike or a cargo e-bike?
The GT33 is primarily an all-terrain Class 3 fat-tire cargo electric bike. Its wide tires, full suspension and geared rear-hub motor also make it suitable for gravel roads, packed dirt paths and light recreational trails.
It is not designed as a competition motocross bike or a dedicated jumping dirt bike. Riders who mainly want aggressive off-road performance should compare it with Riding’times’ purpose-built off-road electric motorbikes.
The GT33 is better suited to riders who want one bike for commuting, errands, cargo, weekend exploring and occasional dirt riding.
How fast can the GT33 electric bike go?
The GT33 has a published maximum speed of up to 31 mph under suitable conditions.
Actual speed depends on rider and cargo weight, battery charge, tire pressure, terrain, temperature, wind, slope and riding mode. Riding on loose dirt, sand or steep terrain will normally produce different results from riding on level pavement.
Always follow local e-bike speed and access regulations. Higher-speed operation may not be permitted on public bicycle paths or roads in every location.
What is the GT33’s riding range?
The GT33’s 48V 27Ah removable battery has a published estimated range of approximately 50–100 miles, depending on how the bike is used.
Range can be reduced by high-speed throttle riding, steep hills, soft dirt, sand, low tire pressure, cold weather, frequent stops and heavier rider or cargo loads. Moderate pedal assist on level terrain generally uses less energy than continuous high-power throttle riding.
Because real-world riding conditions vary, the maximum published range should be treated as an estimate rather than a guaranteed distance.
Is the GT33 battery removable?
Yes. The GT33 uses a removable 48V 27Ah lithium battery.
The quick-release design allows the battery to be removed for indoor charging, storage or replacement. Always switch off the bike before removing the battery and make sure it is fully locked into position before riding.
Use only a compatible Riding’times battery and charger. Modifying the battery, charger, controller or electrical connectors may create a safety risk and can affect warranty coverage.
How long does the GT33 battery take to charge?
The GT33’s published charging time is approximately 8.5–9 hours with the compatible 54.6V 3A charger.
Charging time may vary according to the remaining battery level, battery temperature and surrounding conditions. Charge the battery in a dry, ventilated location and avoid charging immediately after strenuous hill or dirt-trail riding while the battery is still hot.
Do not use an incompatible or higher-output charger unless it has been specifically approved for the GT33.
Is the GT33 good for hills?
The GT33’s integrated geared rear hub motor is designed to support responsive starts and climbing under appropriate riding conditions. The product is rated for slopes of up to approximately 15 degrees under suitable conditions.
Actual hill-climbing ability depends on the gradient, rider and cargo weight, battery charge, approach speed, tire pressure, surface grip and available motor power.
Loose dirt, wet grass, deep sand and gravel can reduce rear-wheel traction. No single motor or torque specification guarantees the same result on every hill.
How much weight can the GT33 carry?
The GT33 has a published maximum total load of 330 lb.
This limit should include the rider, cargo, accessories and anything else carried on the bike. Staying within the maximum load helps protect handling, braking, tires, suspension and frame components.
Cargo should be mounted securely and distributed evenly. Heavy or poorly balanced cargo can change steering, braking distance and rear-wheel traction, particularly on gravel or dirt surfaces.
